Light in the Right Measure

Count on a good lighting is essential. Always! The lights of the House need to follow the need of every room, leave the environment even more beautiful and, above all, be practical and economic. When choosing a lighting project, you need to pay attention to detail for all environments. “I usually work with an elaborate lighting for virtually every room in the House. Even the bathrooms and toilets can be forgotten. Believe me, it makes all the difference,” says the architect Camila Klein. Check out tips for you to leave your House even more full of light!

Adequate lighting

Each room of the House has different functions and lighting needs to adapt to the environment. “At first, we need to think about what the real sense that we want to bring to a particular room. Starting from this point, we believe a climate more or less intimate through the indirect lighting effects, or even by a single dimmer,” explains Klein.

According to the architect, the lights must be synchronized with the site and the activities held there, as well as the furniture. “For every environment, we must think of a differentiated lighting, because each of them has specific functions. A more intimate environment calls for a light more warm and cozy, for example. A workplace requires cold light, suitable for reading and attention, “guides the architect.

A good example is the living room. For being one of the most frequented places of the House, with many different functions, you will need a flexible and pleasant lighting, in which a dimmer and illuminations are quite directed indicated.

Tips to lighten your House properly

Room

In addition to establishing a general brightness through chandeliers or wall sconces, with direct or indirect light, the ideal is to create a project that includes

featured lighting for important items of decoration, such as frames or cupboards.Decorative lamps for the reading can also be good options. In the dining room, the tip is to put a chandelier hanging over the table. But, to avoid shadows during the meal, check that the distance is at least 70 cm. In time to watch TV,  a low lighting will be more enjoyable and comfortable, avoiding that lightness is reflected on the screen. In this case, bet on the dimmer.

Kitchen

This is an area of work that needs to be well lit. Prefer the white light for the General. Typically, lamps are used compact fluorescent tubular or color rendition above 85% in luminaires with glass diffusers or frosted acrylic. A punctual lighting can be used in the sink, on the stove or on the table, but always above the user not to shadow the workplace. Currently, some kitchen designs planned already have spans so spotlights are fitted in cabinets.

Bedrooms

Use diffuse or indirect lighting to create a more cozy environment. Install a dimmer to ensure varied environments. Additionally, bet on the bedside light with small lamps on the bedside table, in high or niche lighting lamps (also known as “light curtain”).

Bathroom

Typically, this site has small Windows, and therefore requires a good artificial lighting. Greater care must be in relation to the mirror, which requires subdued light to avoid shadows. The ideal is to position wall sconces on the sides or on it. Spots in closets or lamps that generate targeted focal points are not recommended.

This type of lighting cause shadows and will make it difficult enough at the time to shave or a makeup.

Choice of lamp

In addition to improving the aesthetics and ambiance, the choice of lamp influences (and!) the power consumption of the House. Despite the huge variety of models, we can divide them into three families: incandescence; fluorescent; and halogen lamps. Compare and choose the best option, but remember to consider the size and model of washers, light fixture or chandelier. Let the lamp showing up can steal all the

charm of your decoration.

FLUORESCENT

The format of the bulb can be round, tubular or spiral. Advantage: arrive to consume up to 80% less than incandescents, bringing energy saving and high durability. Downside: even the warm light does not reproduce colors with fidelity.

INCANDESCENT

Generates light based on heating of a tungsten filament and has different shapes of bulb. Advantage: reproduces the colors with full fidelity and tends to be more pleasing to the eye. Disadvantage: consumes a lot of energy and it loses its effectiveness over time.

HALOGEN LAMPS

Type of incandescent halogen gas which increases the durability and improves performance. Reach the last two times longer than incandescents. May have thread base or main type, reminiscent of an outlet.

More tips

-Be careful in choosing the materials and the colours of the light fixtures. The plastic can heat up and cause burning odor. In addition, may reflect the color and the way of enlightenment.

-If the wall of the House is not very high, use a column type lamp, which lights up from the bottom to the top and gives the impression that the ceiling height is higher.

-Chandeliers with face-up lamps should only be used with white ceiling, because it is able to reflect light.

-If you are building or renovating, be sure to consult a professional and develop a project that meets your tastes and needs. Currently, there are numerous great equipment for intelligent lighting that work

for remote control, turn on automatically at certain points, and more.

-Careful with the position of the switches. See if they are in strategic locations. In the bedroom, for example, the ideal is that you can

control the lighting without having to get out of bed.
